ISLAMABAD: The federal government is reported to have put name of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Reports from multiple sources suggest the local administration of Islamabad had recommended to the federal government to put Shahbaz Gill’s name on the Exit Control List. The government reportedly sought approval from the federal cabinet after which Gill’s name was added to the ECL.

It ma be recalled that soon after the change of government in Islamabad, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had added former prime minister Imran Khan’s six aides to the no-fly list soon. Those put on the watch list by FIA included PM’s former principal secretary Azam Khan, ex-special assistant to PM on political communication Shahbaz Gill, ex-adviser to PM on interior and accountability Shahzad Akbar, Punjab Director-General Gohar Nafees, and FIA’s Punjab Zone DG Mohammad Rizwan.

The FIA move was challenged by the PTI after which in April, Islamabad High Court (IHC) had ordered immediate removal of two key aides of former prime minister Imran Khan — Shahbaz Gill and Mirza Shahzad Akbar — from the exit control list (ECL).
