Swati was presented before the Islamabad court after completion of his physical remand, which was repeatedly extended at the request of the FIA. He remained in the custody of FIA for four days.
During the proceedings today, the FIA requested further physical remand of Azam Swati. However, FIA prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi didn’t show up today.
The Defense Counsel argued that until now, the FIA has recovered some 40 articles from Swati’s possession, while the case was related to a controversial tweet only.
After hearing the arguments, the District Session Judge Special Court rejected FIA’s request of more physical remand, and sent Swati to jail on judicial remand.
Talking to media after today’s court proceedings, Azam Swati said he would soon be holding a presser along with party Chairman Imran Khan, and disclose details as to who tortured him while being in the custody of Police and FIA.
