CHRISTCHURCH: Pakistan beat New Zealand by 5 wickets, with 3 balls remaining, to lift the tri-nation trophy on Friday. Haider and Nawaz handed Pakistan scored 56 off 26 balls to drive Pakistan to a successful run chase against New Zealand.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first against the hosts. Captain Babar Azam while speaking on this occasion said that a change has been made in the national cricket team for the final of the tri-nation series. He said that Haris Rauf has been included in the playing eleven in place of fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain.
New Zealand scores 163 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Black Caps captain Kane Williamson scored 59 runs off 38 balls. Phillips made 29 runs.
Naseem Shah provided a perfect start to Pakistan by bagging opener Finn Allen in his first over. The young fast bowler and Haris bagged two wickets each while Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz shared a wicket apiece for Pakistan.
Mohammad Rizwan made another record by making the most T20I runs in a calendar year. He has scored 821 runs in 18 innings, followed by Suryakumar Yadav with 801 in 23 innings, Dipendra Singh Airee with 626 in 17 innings, Sabawoon Davizi with 612 runs in 15 innings, and Babar Azam with 611 in 19 innings.
