LAHORE: A teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped and filmed in Lahore, a private TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to the first information report (FIR) of the incident, the incident took place in Lahore’s Raiwand area where a teenage girl, who was going with her siblings, was kidnapped at gunpoint and gang-raped inside a car.
The suspects also recorded videos of the act on their mobile phones, said the FIR. Police have launched an investigation into the case.
Incidents of sexual assaults on women have been on a rise in the recent past.
As per a report, as many as 21,900 women were reported to have been raped in the country from 2017 to 2021.
This meant that around 12 women were raped across the country daily, or one woman every two hours.
These, however, are reported cases and could be just the tip of the iceberg since societal stigma and fear of retributive violence prevents women from reporting cases.
