ISLAMABAD: Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has claimed that the recent audio leaks, attributed to PM House and went viral in the short span of some ten days, have busted the narrative of former Prime Minister Imran Khan which he had created on the basis of a Cypher.

Addressing a press conference, Khawaja Asif said Imran Khan made speeches against state institutions while in the audio leak, he was heard refraining others from blaming US before public.

After the recent audio leaks, he said, the government was approached with numerous questions as to when we would take legal action [against Imran Khan]. “Let me make one thing clear, we will take action as per law and the constitution,” said the Defense Minsiter, alleging that after the audio leaks, Imran Khan was bent upon misleading the nation.

Khawaja Asif PMLN has been striving for its entire political career in a way so that all institutions could become neutral. He said all future events, including ‘November’ [army chief’s appointment] and elections would take place as per constitution.

He said it was Prime Minister’s prerogative to appoint the Army Chief, while Imran Khan seemed horrified thinking about November [appointment].

He asked that the cypher was in personal custody of Imran Khan, but it just disappeared and later Imran Khan said he knew nothing about its whereabouts.

He claimed that just ten days back, there was ambiguity about the appointment of new Army Chief but it wasn’t any more since everything would take place on time and as per constitution, adding that it had been a tradition to submit 5 names for the post of Army Chief.
