In the aftermath of record torrential rains and floods, more than three million children are vulnerable due to water-borne diseases, and malnutrition.
Only humanitarian aid on urgent basis could avoid a catastrophe.
MM News has seen some heart-wrenching scenes during the visit of flood-hit areas along with Youth Unity’s volunteers.
The mentioned NGO’s volunteers told us that here the children neither have clothes no shoes and most of the children are suffering from fever and malaria.
Emotion overwhelmed one volunteer working with Youth Unity while narrating the story of a Hindu child who begged for food. The kid told the NGO helper he was a Hindu fearing he might not get the food on the basis of his belief.
“Seeing these vulnerable children making me sad,” another volunteer with Youth Unity said, “I just pray to Allah to have mercy and make it easy for them.”
The volunteer said that they hadn’t realized the scale of the disaster when they were in Karachi.
“It is way worse than we thought it would be,” he added “And the people, who are responsible to provide for these people but nowhere to be seen, will have to answer to Allah on the day of reckoning.”
The volunteer informed MM News that the road is blocked due the broken dam near the village of Jhado. Volunteers of Youth Unity who reached out to these flood-hit communities appealed other NGOs and people who want to help to reach the areas where people are still waiting for help.
“No aid or help has reached in some areas, and we are trying to do what we can to help those people because these people have nothing to eat or drink.” a volunteer commented while we were headed toward one of the flooded areas.
The volunteer of Youth Unity further said God works in mysterious ways, we had no idea that we would travel in a boat to provide aid to these people, but Allah helps people through other people.
Quoting the hadith of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) he said that people who take the charity to the people in need are also rewarded with charity givers. So, we are thankful to God, that he chose us to help these desperate people.
