Monsoon rains, flash floods have wreaked havoc across Pakistan since mid-June, killing over a thousand people and affecting millions.
Sindh province is one of the worst affected provinces where the rains and floods resulted in heavy loss of lives and infrastructure damages.
Around 9 million people have been affected by the ongoing rains and floods in Sindh since June, while 518 people died and more than fifteen thousand sustained injuries.
Sindh government has arranged accommodation for the flood victims in various government colleges and schools in Karachi.
MM News has found flood-affectees without having even the basic facilities in a visit to Karachi’s KERG Degree College Razaqabad, one of the accommodations arranged for the flood-affectees by the Sind government.
“We are being treated worse than animals,” one woman told the MM News “Not even animal would eat the food they give us here.”
Majority of the flood-affectees complained about the food, saying we just eat it fill our stomachs.
An old man, while commenting about their situation, said Sindh government does not care about us, they are treating us like animals. They only care about themselves.
Many of the flood-hit victims alleged that the administration didn’t give them the aid being sent for the flood-affectess, instead the aid and shelter is given to cronies.
“No one is taking care of the real flood-victims,” they added.
MM News spoke to a local official and he claimed that the DC in this area is trying to help the victims but administration stealing the aid before it reaches the camp.
He said that local authorities providing the food to the flood victims.
Another flood-affectee said “Instead of treating people like animals in these camps, the government should provide us permanent dwelling, so we can work and feed our families.”
The flood-victims camping in Karachi’s KERG Degree College urged the Sindh government to take strict action against the administration.
