ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Saturday reported a disruption in communication lines in several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after being hit by flash floods.
In a message from its Twitter handle, the PTA said flash floods have damaged optical fiber cable and led to power outages, due to which there is an “impact” on the services.
Due to flash #floods, damage to optical fibre cable & power outage, #connectivity services have been impacted in Chitral, Upper Dir, Donbala, Swat, Medan, Lal Qila Samarbaghdir, Tank & DI Khan.
PTA is monitoring the situation closely. Work is underway to fully restore services.

Services have been affected in Chitral, Upper Dir, Donbala, Swat, Medan, Lal Qila Samarbaghdir, Tank & DI Khan.

Heavy rain and floods have recently resulted in connectivity issues across the country and on August 19, the internet services of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) were affected across Pakistan due to ‘technical faults in the fiber network after heavy rains.
Devastating rains and flashfloods have wreaked havoc across Pakistan since June, affecting more than 33 million people, according to climate change minister Sherry Rehman, who called the situation a “climate-induced humanitarian disaster of epic proportions”.
According to National Disaster Management Authority, the death toll from recent rains and floods has reached 937 while 1,343 have been injured.
