KARACHI: Li Bijian, Chinese Counsel General in Karachi, has rejected the notion that under Imran Khan’s government CPEC projects had been ignored, delayed or stopped, saying false information has been spread about CPEC progress under the previous government. He also encouraged Chinese investors to invest in Pakistan as he termed the security arrangements satisfactory.
In an interview with Urdu News, Chinese counsel general in Pakistan said there is no change in the policy regarding CPEC between previous government and the current one.
“Under the leadership of Imran Khan, the previous government specially focused on CPEC projects. They speeded up the work on projects,” Li Bijian said “But false propaganda has been spread about it. The global pandemic was the reason that affected the work for a few months.” He added.
He urged Chinese investors to invest in Pakistan and said the security arrangements are satisfactory.
Li Bijian strongly rejected any kind of differences between Pakistan and China and said that both have a strong relationship and respect each other.
He said that investment is also affected by the change in property policy and this is also the case in CPEC projects.
According to the Chinese diplomat, CPEC projects are of utmost importance for both nations. There are many problems but we have to work together to solve them and move forward.
Talking about the energy crisis, he said that China is working in the energy sector in Pakistan, including the plan to make electricity from waste.
Li Bejian said that most of the countries are facing similar problems, such as climate change, so the countries need to work together to solve them.
