Based on the celebrated video game, Netflix series Resident Evil may not be everyone’s cup of tea but one thing is certain, it’s worth watch watching for Pakistanis as it features our very own Ahad Raza Mir.
Based on eight episodes, the series premiered on July 14,. The series ended by questioning Jade Wesker’s life. So will she?
Resident Evil
The latest adaptation in Capcom’s long-running franchise became Netflix’s original show focusing primarily on classic series villain Albert Wesker.
Storyline
The show plays out in two separate years: 2022 (before the zombie-infested apocalypse) and 2036 (well after it). In 2036, the series follows Jade Wesker as she finds herself stranded in the middle of a largely abandoned piece of the world, studying the infected. That story slowly unravels, showing just how bad things have gotten and how the nefarious Umbrella Corporation is at fault for pretty much all of it.
Then, back in 2022, the story follows a younger Jade and her sister Billie as they contend with life having moved to Umbrella’s owned and operated planned community, New Raccoon City. As you might expect, everything it is truly weird, nobody likes to talk about the old Raccoon City. For those that don’t know the games, the T-virus overran the original Raccoon City, leading to Umbrella detonating a nuclear device to take care of their problems in Resident Evil 2.
Who’s in the cast?
Assuming the apocalypse doesn’t hit us between now and filming season two, expect to see most of the following return for Resident Evil season two:
• Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, Jade and Billie’s father
• Ella Balinska as Jade Wesker
• Tamara Smart as young Jade Wesker
• Ahad Raza Mir as Arjun Batra
• Siena Agudong as young Billie Wesker
• Paola Núñez as Evelyn Marcus
• Mpho Osei Tutu as Yen
• Anthony Oseyemi as Roth
• Marisa Drummond as Guard
• Lea Vivier as Susana Franco
• Adeline Rudolph as Billie Wesker
Ahad Raza Mir
Earlier this year, upon hearing that Mir had been cast in the show, his fans bookmarked the date, waiting eagerly for the actor’s appearance in the Netflix series. Now that it’s out, Mir’s fans made sure to not only binge-watch it but also have the star trending on Twitter, sending their love to the actor.
From raving about his chemistry with Ella Balinska (who plays Jade) to posting their favourite scenes and telling the Ehd-e-Wafa actor he killed it, Pakistani Twitter has been all about the actor since Thursday.
Will Jade Survive?
SPOILER ALERT! Getting shot in the belly by her traitorous sister Billie puts a stake in the character. However, the viewers have seen Jade massively concussed by a giant caterpillar and make a 100-foot jump off of a wall into a hoard of zombies without completely shattering her body.
We already know the Weskers heal quicker than your average human, so expect Jade to keep kicking around should the series get renewed.
