ISLAMABAD: A session of the GB Assembly chaired by Speaker Amjad Zaidi will be held today in which the budget for the next financial year for Gilgit-Baltistan will be presented.
According to details, the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly will convene at 5 pm today in which the budget for the next financial year will be presented. Gilgit-Baltistan Finance Minister Javed Ali Manwa will present the budget.
It should be noted that the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly came into being in 2009 under a self-government order in which the elected representatives of the people legislate for the protection of public rights.
The first Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections were held in November 2009 in which the PPP won 20 seats. However, the current government came into being under the 2020 elections.
Out of a total of 33 seats in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, 22 belong to PTI, 4 to PPP, 3 to PML-N, 1 to an independent candidate, and the rest to other political parties.
Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid belongs to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf while opposition leader GB Assembly Amjad Hussain belongs to PPP. The Assembly has been active since November 2020.
