ISLAMABAD: Pakistan continues to report a surge in Covid cases as, during the last 24 hours, the country has reported 435 fresh cases of a pandemic.
According to the latest figures released by the National Institute of Health, Pakistan has reported one death in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,533,482. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 30,386 on Saturday.
Pakistan has conducted 13,644 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 435 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 3.19 percent.

Earlier, the federal and provincial leadership gathered at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) to deliberate on the continuously changing situation.
It was decided to expedite the vaccination of citizens, as it was the best defence against the pandemic. Besides, the number of daily Covid tests, which has dropped fivefold over the last couple of months, will be increased to ascertain the actual number of infections across the country.
The NCOC meeting was chaired by Federal Minister of National Health Services (NHS) Abdul Qadir Patel in Islamabad. Representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the National Disaster Management Authority, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan and the local administration also attended. Provincial representatives also participated virtually.
