PSX closes 2021 on positive note as KSE-100 index gains 179 points

The KSE-100 Index moved in a range of 339.22 points

KARACHI: The final trading session of 2021 was marred by volatile activity as the benchmark KSE-100 index kept climbing and dipping throughout the day. However, optimistic investors aided the index to close the year with a gain of 179 points.

In the morning, trading began with a sharp spike, however, volatility emerged later and caused the index to oscillate between positive and negative zones throughout the day. Late session buying helped the market add to the gains and finish on a positive note.

The KSE-100 Index moved in a range of 339.22 points, showing an intraday high of 44,646.49 points and a low of 44,307.27 points. At close, the benchmark KSE-100 index recorded an increase of 179.87 points, or 0.4%, to settle at 44,596.07 points.

A total of 374 companies traded shares in the stock exchange, out of them shares of 220 closed up, shares of 137 closed down while shares of 17 companies remained unchanged. The overall market volumes increased to 317.64 million shares.
