ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan has announced a deadline for local body elections of Sindh, Baluchistan, and Islamabad.
According to details, the ECP had announced deadlines giving a 15-day respite to the officials of the provinces directing that, necessary amendments should be made to the laws during this period.
Furthermore, the commission directed the provincial government to provide maps and necessary data. As per ECP officials, the delimitation of constituencies will be started from December 1st according to the law and the election schedule will be issued immediately after its completion.

Moreover, for local body elections in Baluchistan, the Commission had ordered to provide data of all necessary laws within 2 weeks. The zoning of districts will start from December 6, after which the full schedule for the conduct of elections will be submitted for approval to authorities.
Meanwhile, The Interior Ministry had given 10 days, to hold local body elections in Islamabad. The Election Commission also ordered the submission of necessary documents as soon as possible. In case of violation of the order, the election schedule will be issued after the completion of delimitation.
Earlier, the term of local bodies in Islamabad expired on February 14 this year. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had mentioned that, local body elections will be held for 50 union councils of the city with the aim of electing local leadership to solve local problems.
