Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the UN General Assembly on September 24 via video link. The prime minister will outline Pakistan’s perspective on key global and regional issues.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson said the Prime Minister’s policy address and the Foreign Minister’s visit to New York will serve to enhance Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and engagement with its international partners and key institutions.

He said Pakistan has always played an active and constructive role in the United Nations framework and supported the Organization in effective discharge of its mandates for addressing various regional and global issues as well as contemporary challenges.

Afghanistan, climate change and the coronavirus crises will dominate discussions at the UN General Assembly’s hybrid high-level debate. Each delegation will be permitted to bring up to seven members to the general debate, including the chief delegate, in the scaled-down session of the assembly.

FM Qureshi will participate in several events being held during the Assembly’s high-level week including a meeting of the OIC Working Group on Jammu and Kashmir, a Ministerial meeting of the Uniting for Consensus group on Security Council reform, and a high-level meeting on Energy.

The foreign minister will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts, meet the UNSG, address think tanks and meet members of the Pakistani community and businessmen in New York besides the Pakistani and international media.
