LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan will meet Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani on Monday to discuss the future of the board’s chairmanship.
According to a private newspaper, the premier would recommend two names for the governing board which includes Ramiz Raja and Dr Jawad Sajid Khan, chairman of the Lahore Gymkhana. One of these will be elected for the role of PCB chairman.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Prime Minister had already appointed Justice (r) Azmat Saeed as the election commissioner to hold the PCB chairman elections.
Sources added that legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram has also backed Raja as the chairman as he believes that a cricketer should take the reins of the board bearing in mind the fact that PM Khan also belonged to the same field in the past.
The prime minister has also been advised that PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan should be allowed to continue working as Mani did not give him a free hand to accomplish his goals.
Current PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani was set for an extension but that changed when some government officials were left unhappy after Pakistan team’s disappointing performance on England tour and mishandling of Kashmir Premier League (KPL).
