LAHORE: A woman and her son were arrested by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) for supplying dead poultry meat in Lahore, with 97 kg of unsafe meat seized during the operation.
The PFA discovered dead chickens stored in a warehouse, leading to the registration of a case.
During an early morning inspection, the PFA’s Meat Safety team checked 44,000 kg of meat and poultry. The team uncovered a shop where dead chickens were being secretly prepared for sale.
Despite strong resistance from the woman involved, the operation was successfully carried out under police supervision, and the contaminated meat was destroyed.
The inspection also revealed unhygienic conditions at the shop, with plans to supply the unsafe chicken to various food outlets and catering services.
This is not the first incident of its kind; in a previous case, two individuals were caught supplying dead poultry meat. In that operation, PFA teams led by their Director-General intercepted a truck carrying 2,600 kg of dead chicken on its way to Lahore.
