Like many netizens, Pakistani celebrities have also called out Prime Minister Imran Khan on connecting women’s clothes to rape and Pakistani men’s inability to control their temptations around those wearing few clothes.
The prime minister was already under fire for his views on rape previously as well. However, recently, in a response to a question that does he think what women wear has any effect on society.
To which the prime minister replied, “If a woman is wearing very few clothes it will have an impact, it will have an impact on the men unless they’re robots. I mean it’s common sense.”
Adnan Siddiqui
Pakistani star Adnan Siddiqui on his Twitter account condemned the act of victim-blaming.
If all farmers thought like PMIK, they would never spray pesticides on their crops. Because pests like crops. Pests devour crops. #stopvictimblaming

Dear @ShireenMazari1 please draw up a list for IK, of men, women and children raped everyday regardless of how they were dressed so that these outrageous and problematic statements are never made again.

Zahid Ahmed
Actor Zahid Ahmed highlighted the apologetic behaviour most boys grow up with that ends up with ’she made me do it’ when it comes to domestic violence, abuse and rape.
Blaming others for actions committed by an individual is the most coward way of dealing with a problem. This statement is like an excuse that its OK to end a temptation trigger by rape instead of taking ownership of one’s OWN thoughts and actions

Osman Khalid Butt
Chupke Chupke actor Osman Khalid Butt did not like what the prime minister stated.
When the outrage – and the outrage over the outrage – dies, I hope we can focus our energies on the culture of shame, misogyny and societal victim-blaming that leads to (as Khan saab pointed out) families of victims not reporting abuses because they are ‘so embarrassed.’
