The military’s media wing, ISPR, announced on Thursday that three more retired officers have been taken into military custody in connection with ongoing court martial proceedings against former ISI chief Faiz Hameed.
The ISPR said that these officers were arrested due to actions deemed harmful to military discipline.
It was also revealed that investigations are ongoing into the activities of certain retired officers and their associates, who are suspected of creating instability in collaboration with political interests.
Earlier this week, the army confirmed the arrest of General Faiz Hameed, the former head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), for alleged violations of the Army Act.
According to media reports, General Hameed was detained in Rawalpindi after being summoned by a senior military official. This development challenges the long-held belief that intelligence chiefs in the country, where generals have historically held significant power, were immune from accountability.
