LAHORE: The price of a 20-kilogram wheat flour bag reached Rs2,950 in the provincial capital of Punjab, while the wheat price rocketed to Rs4,850 per maund with an increase of Rs50 in the open market on Tuesday.
Following the rise in the price of wheat, a 20kg bag of flour in the open market reached Rs2,950.
Shopkeepers are selling a bag of 20kg wheat flour for Rs2,950 while a 10kg bag now costs Rs1,480. A 15kg flour bag is available at Rs2,500.
People are already facing a crunch time due to inflation. The frequent spike in wheat and flour prices has made the commodities unaffordable for people.
Punjab secretary good said his team is monitoring the activities of the ‘wheat mafia’ and the crackdown is underway by the deputy commissioners and the commissioners across the province.
Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned to take immediate measures to control the prices of wheat and flour in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), besides increasing supply from Punjab province.
