YouTube has quietly ended app support for a number of older iPhones and iPads as the latest 20.22.1 version now requires iOS 16 or later to function, cutting off access for Apple devices that can’t go beyond iOS 15.
Following this new update, YouTube support will end for the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, iPhone 7, 7 Plus, and the first-generation iPhone SE.
In fact, Apple devices limited to iOS 15 will no longer be able to install or update the YouTube app.
Although running the YouTube app will no longer be possible on these devices, users will still be able to access the service through a mobile browser. However, certain features such as offline support will not be available when using YouTube via the mobile browser.
YouTube made the decision to end support for older iPhones shortly after Apple officially declared the iPhone 6 obsolete.

Before YouTube, WhatsApp had also ended support for older iPhones starting June 1.
It’s time for users, still relying on these legacy devices, to consider an upgrade, especially if they depend on apps like YouTube and WhatsApp.
