LAHORE: A 25-year-old young man committed suicide after losing over a million rupees in a cryptocurrency scam.
The rising number of online scams and fraudulent activities has compelled people to need their lives after losing their investments and unable to repay their debts.
Abdul Matin Goraya hoped to earn dollars by investing Rs1.4 million in an online business dealing in cryptocurrency.
He borrowed money from his relatives and friends which he invested in the online business to improve his future prospects. He was also expected to get married after two months.
Abdul Matin received initial gains and started investing even more in the online business. After eight months, the youngster found out being scammed on the cryptocurrency website.
Dejected that he would be unable to repay the loans, Matin took the drastic decision and ended his by consuming poisonous park in a public park in Mandi Bahauddin.
After his body reached home, Mateen’s family members searched his mobile phone and came to know about the scam.
Ever since then, his elderly father has been moving from pillar to post requesting action against the fraudulent company.
Ehsanullah Goraya, who works as a clerk in Education Department, has urged the FIA and higher authorities to take action against the company involved in the scam.
