The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Transport has launched a new digital driving license verification system that allows instant authentication of licenses through a QR code.
According to an official communication, Director of Transport Hassan Abid said the QR code printed on driving licenses will enable quick and secure verification.
He explained that scanning the code will redirect users to an online portal displaying the complete details of the license holder in real time.
He said the system also allows citizens to store their electronic driving license (e-DL) on their mobile phones. The digital driving license will be legally valid and accepted across Pakistan, he added.
Abid further said that the QR code-based verification feature eliminates the need to carry a physical driving license card, making the process more convenient for motorists while improving transparency and efficiency in enforcement.
He also said that the Directorate of Transport has been assigned a revenue target of Rs550 million from driving license fees during the current fiscal year.
