Yemen has escalated tensions with Israel following recent attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah. Yemeni Defense Minister Major General Mohammed Nasser al-Atifi has announced that Yemeni forces, including the Houthis, are prepared to launch strikes deep within Israeli territory.
Al-Atifi stated that the Houthis are at their “highest readiness” and have thoroughly analyzed Israel’s vulnerabilities to identify key targets.
The Yemeni army has expressed support for Hezbollah’s recent assaults on Israel and has vowed to dismantle the protective barriers Israel relies on.
On August 26, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an assault drone strike on Israel, targeting surveillance equipment at the Ramyah site in northern Israel. This follows a major attack on August 25, in which Hezbollah launched over 300 rockets and drones at Israeli positions.
Further complicating the situation, Western and Middle Eastern security sources suggest that the recent wave of attacks could be followed by another wave from a different group in the region. BBC correspondent Nafiseh Kohnavard reported that there is speculation about potential retaliatory actions from Yemen or other countries in the Middle East.
