WASHINGTON: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 4 million today.
Around the world, the pandemic has killed more than 276,235 people and infected over 4,013,896. The US has the highest 78,615 deaths, followed by Britain with 31,241, Italy with 30,201, Spain 26,299, and France 26,230 deaths.
According to the latest data, 1,385,412 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far. In the United States, nearly 1,321,785 cases were confirmed, including more than 78,615 deaths. The US reported an increase of 1,687 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Canada reported 4,569 fatalities and 66,434 infections due to coronavirus. Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 30,201 fatalities, with 243 people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours.
Spain has recorded 26,299 fatalities with 168 in a single day and 260,117 infections. China has to date reported 4,633 deaths and 82,887 cases, with 78,046 recoveries.
France has reported 243 deaths in a single day, taking the tally to 26,230 deaths and 176,079 cases. The United Kingdom has reported 626 deaths during the last 24 hours, 31,241 fatalities, and 211,364 infections.
Turkey reported 135,569 coronavirus cases and 3,689 fatalities. In Belgium, 8,521 people succumbed to the disease while Brazil reported 10,017 deaths with 804 fatalities in a single day due to the coronavirus.
Germany has reported 7,510 deaths and 170,588 infections. Over 187,859 people have infected while 1,723 people died of the virus in Russia.
Israel has reported 16,436 coronavirus cases while 245 deaths. Meanwhile, the death toll is 6,541 in Iran as a confirmed number of cases is almost 104,691.
