KARACHI: A rare hybrid solar eclipse will occur on April 20, 2023 as a complete eclipse will be visible at some places while partial at others, however it will not be visible in Pakistan, the Met Office said on Friday.
The astronomical event’s path of totality passes over North West Cape – a remote peninsula of Western Australia.
The eclipse will partly be visible In South and East Asia, Australia, Pacific, Indian Ocean and Antarctica but not in Pakistan. A partial eclipse will begin at 6:34 am to reach the total level at 7:37 am and greatest at 9:17 am.
Hybrid solar eclipses are a rarity with just a few occurring in each century.
According to reports, there will be plenty of time to catch a glimpse of the moon’s shadow across the sun because the solar eclipse will last five hours and 24 minutes overall.
A change from a total to an annular eclipse will occur throughout the event, causing some regions to see the moon completely block out the sun while others will see a ring of light around the shadow’s border.
