KARACHI: A woman who was traveling on the Bahauddin Zakaria Express from Multan to Karachi was allegedly gang-raped by the ticket-checker and two other suspects.
The accused gang raped the woman on her way to Karachi from Multan by train and fled. Police have registered a case of the incident City Railway Police Station in Karachi.
According to details, the unfortunate incident occurred on May 27 when a woman along with her children was traveling from Multan. During her return to Karachi, three men who claimed themselves as from the railway authority raped the woman under the pretext of changing seats.
The victim was allegedly gang-raped by three train alleged employees. Police said that Zakaria Express is not under the control of Pakistan Railways but under the management of a private company in which the incident took place.

Police said the accused who gang-raped the woman includes two ticket checkers and a ticket in-charge. The accused fled after committing the crime. The victim has been taken to Jinnah Hospital Karachi for medical treatment while further investigation is ongoing.
Pakistan Railways takes notice
Pakistan Railways said the tragic incident took place on the Zakaria Express from Multan to Karachi on May 27. The woman, a resident of Orangi Town, boarded the Zakaria Express from Multan to Karachi.
After Rohri station, staff member Zahid asked her to sit in compartment AC business where the train manager Aqib was already present Zahid, Aqib and another staffer Zohaib sexually assaulted her.
The statement added that when the train reached Karachi City Station, no one arrive to received so she sat on the platform bench.
A railway police officer on duty asked about any problem and need help but she did not mention about the incident. Eventually Railway Lady Police brought her to the police station help centre.
Police contacted her sister and informed her who reached to collect her. Pakistan Raileays said she did not report any incident for legal action. Later, when the news was published in a local newspaper, Divisional Superintendent Karachi contacted her to report the matter.
The victim’s statement was recorded before DCO Railway and Ladies Police. A report has been submitted to CEO Pakistan Railways who vowed to take action.
IG Railway Police has issued orders for the arrest of the accused. The Railway Minister has expressed regret over the incident and directed the Railway Administration and Railway Police to immediately arrest the accused.
He directed to ensure the prevention of such incidents in private (outsourced) trains. According to reports, two accused have been arrested and Railway Police teams are conducting raids to nab the third.
