A woman allegedly beat her husband to death in Shahkot area of Chichawatni over a dispute regarding an unequal share in the wheat harvest, police reported on Saturday.
According to initial findings, the deceased and his brothers had jointly cultivated a wheat crop. The wife reportedly accused her husband’s brothers of giving them a smaller portion of the yield. The argument escalated, resulting in a violent altercation in which the wife allegedly attacked her husband, leading to his death.
Police have taken the victim’s body into custody and stated that further action will be initiated upon receiving the post-mortem report.
This tragic case follows a similar incident reported last year in Karachi’s Nazimabad area, where a woman shot and killed her husband following a domestic dispute.
According to SHO Abid Shah of Rizvia Society Police Station, the 2024 incident occurred in Feroz Colony, Nazimabad 2, where 40-year-old Abdul Ghaffar, son of Haider Jan, was shot dead by his wife, Samina.
Investigations revealed that Abdul Ghaffar, a drug addict, frequently engaged in arguments with his wife and was allegedly abusive. During one such dispute, Samina used a 9mm pistol belonging to her brother—a security guard—to fatally shoot her husband before fleeing the scene.
Both incidents highlight the growing concerns around domestic violence and the need for conflict resolution mechanisms within families. Authorities continue to investigate the cases to determine the full extent of the circumstances involved.
