KARACHI: TikTok star Minahil Malik has levelled serious allegations against singer Umair Awan, accusing him of using a personal video clip of hers without permission in his latest song “Laareya.”
In a video message shared with her followers on TikTok, Minahil Malik claimed that Umair Awan incorporated a private video from her personal life into the music video without seeking her consent.
She issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the singer, demanding that the song be taken down immediately. “If the video is not removed, I will take legal action and file an FIR,” she warned, calling the inclusion of the clip “unacceptable.”
The controversy erupted just three days after the release of “Laareya” on YouTube, which has already crossed 99,000 views.
In response to the allegations, Umair Awan dismissed the accusations and refused to take down the song. “I will not delete my song under any pressure. She is free to do whatever she wants,” he said in a statement.
The situation has sparked debate on social media over consent, privacy, and content usage in digital media. Legal experts suggest the case could set an important precedent for influencer and artist collaborations in Pakistan’s online entertainment industry.
