KARACHI: A woman was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of shopping with counterfeit currency notes.
The woman, identified as Masmat Mukhtaran, was arrested from Ibrahim Hyderi area. She was shopping at a market near Korangi Crossing with the fake notes.
Police have recovered counterfeit currency from her possession. A case has registered against her and she is being interrogated in this regard.
Earlier in November, the Federal Investigation Agency’s Cybercrime Wing claimed to have arrested a suspect posing as an FIA officer and committing financial fraud with the general public.
An FIA team acting on a tip-off and after conducting an inquiry carried out a raid in Landhi and arrested Irfan Khan, who was posing as an assistant director of FIA Cybercrime Wing in Karachi.
The suspect used to claim that his wife was an additional sessions judge in Karachi. The FIA team also seized digital equipment from his possession. A criminal case was registered against him under relevant sections of the law.
