Henry Cavill has been dropped as Superman by the DC Studios, less than two months after he announced his return to the role.
“I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman,” Cavill said.
“After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.”
Henry said there were no hard feelings. However, Henry got himself into a real predicament after announcing his return as Superman for Warner Brothers in the middle of a leadership shift. He quickly announced he would no longer continue playing Geralt in ‘The Witcher’ franchise and got sacked as Clark Kent less than a month after that.
So, what he’s going to do as his schedule is suddenly free. There are some great options for him to take on the next adventure in his career. Let’s take a look at all of them, shall we?
James Bond
Henry Cavill would be the ideal choice for this part, despite Metro Goldwyn Meyer officials having previously stated that they are looking to recruit a new James Bond actor in his early 30s. In addition to being British, he also possesses the confidence and good looks to be a flawless 007 Thanks to his excellent genetics, he could easily play the part well into his early 50s at the age of 39 without looking too old. What role makes the most sense out of these?

Aegon the Conqueror in House of the Dragon
Following the HBO Max premiere of “House of the Dragon,” fans immediately fancast Henry Cavill as Aegon “The Conqueror” Targaryen. Although the show’s creators didn’t explicitly state that this would be the only story they would portray, we are presently seeing the Dance of the Dragons chronology, which takes place hundreds of years after Aegon’s Conquest. This could be Henry Cavill’s chance to fulfil another fantasy role because House Targaryen has a long and rich history to tell.
Sherlock Holmes on Netflix
Henry Cavill, who just starred in a blockbuster “Enola Holmes” sequel for Netflix, may reprise his role as Sherlock Holmes in a spinoff that the movie skillfully set up. Netflix, on the other hand, didn’t end up on good terms with the actor when he abandoned “The Witcher” and left them hanging. In his defense, Cavill genuinely believed he would continue to portray Superman for at least another ten years.

A role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Online rumors suggest that James Gunn and Kevin Feige are conspiring to finally entice Henry Cavill to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He may take over the role of Dr. Doom in the upcoming 2024 “Fantastic Four” film, according to several rumors. He could play a variety of intriguing characters from the Marvel Comics universe, though. Wolverine, Captain Britain, and Dr. Doom are at the top of the list.
Imagine Marvel making a smart choice and bringing Henry Cavill into the MCU as Captain Britain since it doesn’t look like the Superman thing is gonna work out right now. pic.twitter.com/C5Krj1Y3DO
