ISLAMABAD: The authorities on Thursday announced winter vacations for schools and colleges in Islamabad.
According to details, a notification has been released announcing the closure of all schools and colleges in the federal capital from December 25 to December 31.
As per the official notification shared by the Director General of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), educational activities in Islamabad schools and colleges are scheduled to resume on January 1, 2024.
Previously, the provincial authorities had declared winter vacation for schools and colleges in Punjab.
Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, disclosed that a high-level meeting had been convened to address the SMOG challenge. He declared the closure of schools and colleges across Punjab from December 18 to January 1, citing improved air quality in the province and the absence of a ban in the upcoming week.
Before this announcement, the Sindh government had declared winter vacations for both private and government schools, as well as other educational institutions throughout the province. As per the notification from the Sindh Education and Literacy Department, winter vacations are set to take place from December 22 to December 31, leading to the closure of all public and private educational institutions in the province during this period.
