Elections are a crucial element of democracy, allowing the nation to decide which political party it wants to bring to the national or provincial assembly, eventually leading to the selection of the country’s leader.
Economic stability is a dreamlike state for any nation, and discussions about such stability are essential in progressive countries like Pakistan. However, any government finds it challenging to achieve it.
It is essential to sustain the practice of democracy in the country, free from various manipulations that often lead to political and economic weaknesses.
While the political system of any country can be adjusted, separating it from democracy can lead to economic instability. The result is often a storm of inflation, making it difficult for the public to access essential commodities.
In this context, political parties should focus on strengthening democracy. As recently stated by former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in an interview with American media, he expressed skepticism about stability after the election if the right path is not chosen.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi mentioned that the focus of the PML-N is on gaining power, and he does not agree with this perspective. The influence of the PML-N, favoring Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, is making the elections controversial.
In the recent intra-party elections in the PTI, a unilateral decision was made by the party leadership, which is surprising, considering that both sides’ votes were counted.
Protests were raised by political parties like the PML-N and PPP against intra-party elections, as indicated by the statements of PML-N leader Maryam Aurangzeb and PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi. However, Imran Khan is no longer the chairman of the PTI.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi stated that the PML-N is focusing on silencing Nawaz Sharif and needs to tell the public about their vision for leading the country and the nation in the fourth term. Ensure the determination of the path before the election.
It is crucial to understand that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has practically distanced himself from the PML-N. He emphasized that if the determination of the path is not made, stability will not come after the election, and a delay in elections will be against public interests.
If parties, including the PML-N, want political stability in the country, they must refrain from foul play, corruption, and provocative statements. To succeed in the election, parties should present their manifesto and performance to the public for an informed decision-making process.”
