Speculation is growing on social media that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, could soon be removed from office by the party, as Imran Khan reportedly ordered the move from prison. MPA Shakeel Ahmed Khan is expected to be appointed as the next Chief Minister.
Shakeel Khan, who previously served as the Minister for Works and Communications in Gandapur’s cabinet, resigned after leveling serious corruption allegations against the Chief Minister and his team.
According to sources, following the failure of the November 26 protest for Imran Khan’s release, the PTI founder decided to replace the Chief Minister of Pakhtunkhwa. He has now reportedly given the green light to the party leadership for this change.
In another development, the party on Saturday removed Gandapur from the position of provincial president and appointed Junaid Akbar as the new president of PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter.
While Shakeel Khan’s name has surfaced as a potential replacement for Gandapur, no official statement from the party has been issued yet.
