If Lady Gaga wants to try out for the role of Amy Winehouse in a film about her life, she’s got Mitch Winehouse’s blessing. The late singer’s father told U.K. magazine Heat that there will definitely be an Amy biopic and “Lady Gaga is welcome to audition for the part of Amy—she would be great.”
It’s no doubt Gaga would nail the part looks-wise—throw on some cat eyeliner and the two look like sisters. But the “Born This Way” singer might need some work on her English accent. Mitch Winehouse told the Daily Star earlier this year, “I don’t know what her English accent is like but it’s not just an English accent she would have to perfect—it’s an English-Cockney-Jewish accent so she better start practicing now.” That’s a tall order, Gaga. Are you up for it?
A biopic movies about Amy Winehouse is coming soon, with the script already having been written by Matt Greenhalgh.
Lady Gaga is rumored to be one of the leading stars to play the role of Winehouse.
According to Cosmopolitan Italia, Lady Gaga could combine her musical and acting talents to play Winehouse, although Camila Cabello, Alexa Demie and Lauren Jauregui are also believed to be in with a chance.
This isn’t just a rumored project, as it is actually happening and the movie already has a title, of ‘Back to Black’.
It is being produced by StudioCanal UK and the director will be Sam Taylor-Johnson, whose most famous movie was ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, but who also directed the ‘Nowhere Boy’ biopic about John Lennon.
As mentioned above, the Matt Greenhalgh script for the Winehouse movie is already written, so now it’s just a matter of finding the cast and shooting.
Winehouse’s father Mitch, who was her agent, is believed to have preferred a younger up-and-coming actress for the part, but it could end up going to the 36-year-old Lady Gaga.
