ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said he was “honoured and humbled” to take oath as foreign minister in the national unity government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
In a tweet, he said the PPP as the second largest party in coalition will play its part in restoring democracy, passing electoral reforms, fighting for a fairer economy and advocating Pakistan’s case on the world stage.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also sent his heartiest congratulations to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the start of his public service career.
“I am confident he will add tremendous value to our foreign policy and inject it with a fresh perspective. I wish him the very best & look forward to working with him,” he said in a tweet after Bilawal was sworn in as the new foreign minister.
Youngest foreign minister
Bilawal became the 37th foreign minister of the country. His grandfather Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had served the country as the 12th foreign minister of Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) immediately after being sworn in. During his visit to the foreign ministry, the officials briefed Bilawal on Pakistan’s relations with the rest of the world.
Later, the foreign minister accompanied by Minister of State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, also paid a visit to the Chinese Embassy. Bilawal expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in the terrorist attack in Karachi. He also recorded his impressions in a guest book at the Chinese embassy.
Bilawal has the distinct honour of becoming the youngest foreign minister in the history of the country as he was sworn in at the age of 33 years, seven months and six days.
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was 35 years, five months and ten days old when he was sworn in as the foreign minister while Hina Rabbani Khar was 33 years, eight months and one day old.
