Rainfall has made the weather pleasant in various cities of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the federal capital Islamabad, while the pre-monsoon rains have also begun in Balochistan. Citizens breathed a sigh of relief after getting respite from the heat.
In Lahore, Sargodha, Bhalwal, and other areas of Punjab, there was light drizzle in some places and heavy rainfall in others, which led to a significant drop in temperature. Due to the rain, power supply was affected in several areas; however, on special instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, WASA personnel are actively working, and the drainage of water from low-lying areas is underway.
Traffic flow on the M1 Motorway from Islamabad Toll Plaza to Rashakai Interchange has been affected due to heavy rainfall. According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, in view of the risk of accidents due to heavy rain and slippery roads, the entry of passenger vehicles has been temporarily suspended.
Rain also made the weather pleasant in the city of Karak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its surrounding areas, providing relief from heat and humidity.
Meanwhile, rainfall has also been forecast from today in the Baltistan Division of Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to the Meteorological Department, pre-monsoon season rains have started in the central and eastern parts of Balochistan, particularly in areas including the Koh-e-Sulaiman range. The department has predicted that this rain spell will continue intermittently until June 29.
The public has been advised to exercise caution while traveling, stay away from electrical wires, and follow local administration guidelines to prevent potential urban flooding.
