King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan has just landed in hot waters following Indian netizens demanded to boycott the actor ahead of his movie ‘Pathan’ release.
The controversy sparked when an old picture of SRK with Prime Minister Imran Khan surfaced on social media from an event that was held in 2008. According to Indian Twitteratis, the Bollywood star has hurt some religious sentiments, over and over again.

While sharing images, news clippings, and incidents from the past where SRK was seen either speaking in support of Pakistani cricket players or speaking of intolerance in India, the netizens claimed the ‘ideology’ of Shah Rukh Khan ‘harmful’.

The fact that the actor is set to play a RAW agent in the upcoming film Pathan, in which he will be playing a Muslim, has also struck a nerve of Hindu fundamentalists in the country. The movie will also feature Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, as well as Salman Khan in a cameo role, according to Times of India.
Many social media have been calling for a complete boycott of the Bollywood actor overall. This is not the first time SRK has been discriminated against in his own country.
In an emotive first-person article titled ‘Being Khan’ featured in Outlook Turning Points magazine, the actor once said he feels he has been used by political leaders as a “symbol of what is wrong about Muslims in India.”
He added, “I sometimes become the inadvertent object of political leaders who choose to make me a symbol of all that they think is wrong and unpatriotic about Muslims in India.”
