The drama serial ‘Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay’ has become one of the much-anticipated dramas of the year. It is not only based on a novel written by Umera Ahmed but also includes an A-list cast starring Mahira Khan, Kubra Khan, and Usman Mukhtar.
However, there are not a few but a lot of things about ‘Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay’ that are triggering the audience with its every new episode. Let’s have a look:
Confused Aswad
Despite living abroad, being brought up by a sane mother, Aswad is a confused guy in many ways with a biased approach. He is not only a confused man but also in the previous episode his character has continuously given obscure signals to both of the female protagonists.
Apparently, Aswad is interested in Mehreen’s life and has gossiped about her with Mashal in almost every episode but won’t talk directly to her and know about her cousin’s life.
In initial episodes, Aswad once said he can ‘easily catch people who lie’ but naive mister could not recognise even once how Mashal had been lying to on numerous occasions about Mehreen. Maybe his judging skills are quite unpolished.
Aswad-Mashal relationship
Aswad may seem cool but he is just a typical Pakistani man who doesn’t own up to his relationship and is okay to blame the girl that he never said anything as such.
Why would he bring a ring for Mashal if he was not into her? if he never intended any commitment.Â
Dealing with boy-girl friendship
Aswad, an overseas Pakistani talks to his cousin Mashal almost every day but judges Mehreen based on her friendship with Saffan, his guy-friend. He has biased opinions against her because he once saw her and Saffan having dinner together.
Toxic family
If there was an award for a best toxic family in Universe then the award might be bagged by the Tahir family featuring Tahir, an ignorant uncle and blind father, his wife, a mother who has always compared her only daughter Mashal with her cousin Mehreen, a grandmother who has turned down the phrase ‘dhoop mein safaid nahi karaye’.
Indeed her hair must have gone grey due to sun exposure and not by any noting experience in life. And yes, of course, the main members of the family: Mehreen and Mashal, a clear victims of hatred sewed by their elders.
Weak characters
Even a listed cast cannot save a drama if a story is banned on a weak plot.’ Despite an amazing cast and mesmerising OST, ‘Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay’ has so many flaws.
This drama is an eye-opener for people who ignore ‘don’t believe everything you see or hear’. Mashal continuously framing every wrongdoing on Mehreen, she easily lies and gets away with it, even Shabbo, the maid becomes fearless when it comes to heating up the fight between the two cousins.
Why drama needs to raise its game
The drama could have easily addressed a very unique issue that is the impact of dysfunctional family and comparison between cousins on an individual. But in the past two episodes, the drama is showing a simple toxic representation of how society is.
