A consignment of commercial goods bound for Karachi from a Chinese port has been seized by Indian authorities on allegations that it contained components related to Pakistan’s missile and nuclear programs.
The importer, Cosmos Engineering, has filed a claim in the Sindh High Court (SHC), seeking damages from the shipping and freight service companies for the seizure of its commercial cargo at an Indian port.
What Happened?
On February 2, Indian authorities intercepted the shipment at Mumbai port, alleging that the cargo contained materials linked to Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programs.
However, Cosmos Engineering and Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs assert that the consignment was strictly for commercial use.

The company has accused the shipping company of colluding with Indian authorities, causing significant financial losses and reputational damage. As a result, Cosmos Engineering is seeking over Rs 209.1 million in damages.
