ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, has appointed a woman as the Registrar of the Supreme Court for the first time in history.
On Sunday, after taking the oath of office as the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Faiz Isa made various appointments.

Before becoming the SC Registrar, Jazeela Aslam was the District and Sessions Judge in Okara. She has also worked in Kasur and Sialkot in the same capacity. Notably, she is Punjab’s most senior female District and Sessions Judge. Her judicial career began in 1994 as a Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate.
She has also worked as a Deputy Solicitor and as a professor at the Federal Judicial Academy.
Her appointment aligns with the Constitution, which requires that the judiciary be separate from the executive, and she meets the eligibility and experience criteria set forth in the Supreme Court Establishment Rules 2015.
According to the press release, for the first time in the country’s history, a woman has been appointed as the Registrar of the Supreme Court, which is commendable. She is a dedicated professional, a mother of three, and a shining example for women judges.
