Junaid Akbar, the newly appointed president of the PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has recently garnered attention after succeeding a close associate of PTI founder Imran Khan. Although his speeches in the National Assembly have gained significant traction on social media, his rise to prominence in the political scene has left many curious about his background. Here’s a closer look at the man behind the headlines.
Akbar, a member of the National Assembly (MNA), has been a steadfast PTI supporter for over two decades. He first entered Parliament 12 years ago, securing a seat in the lower house after winning his first election in 2013 on a PTI ticket. He successfully retained his seat in the 2018 and 2022 elections, solidifying his position as a long-time party activist.
Hailing from the Thana area of Malakand district, Akbar’s political journey began with PTI, and he has remained loyal to the party since its inception. Notably, before joining PTI, Akbar had no affiliation with any other political group, marking his political career as firmly rooted in PTI.
Apart from his political credentials, Akbar has familial ties to Lal Muhammad Khan, a former federal minister and senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party. This connection adds another layer to his political profile.
At 48, Akbar completed his early education up to matriculation in his hometown of Thana, later obtaining an MBA from Peshawar University. Known for his integrity, Akbar has earned a reputation as an honorable politician within his region.
