Neil Gaiman is a renowned British author known for his contributions to literature, particularly fantasy and graphic novels. His notable works include The Sandman, American Gods, and Good Omens. Gaiman’s storytelling spans various formats, including novels, comics, screenplays, and children’s literature, earning him numerous awards and a significant following worldwide.
Recently, Gaiman has come under scrutiny due to multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. A report published in New York Magazine detailed accusations from eight women who allege various forms of sexual assault and coercion by Gaiman. Among these allegations is a claim from a former babysitter who described being sexually assaulted by Gaiman in 2022 while caring for his child.
The allegations include instances of Gaiman engaging in inappropriate behavior while the child was present, as well as coercive sexual acts under the guise of authority.
These accusations are not isolated; they follow earlier claims made against Gaiman in July 2024 when five women first reported similar experiences during a podcast series titled Master. This series focused on the allegations against him, prompting further investigation and media coverage.
The gravity of these allegations has led to significant public discourse regarding Gaiman’s actions and their implications for his career and reputation.
In earlier allegations, a the woman named Caroline confessed to entering a physical relationship with Gaiman after her husband moved out from Gaiman and Palmer’s Woodstock, NYC home, where they were working as caretakers.
Caroline recalled that one evening, she fell asleep reading to Gaiman’s son, then 4, in Gaiman and Palmer’s bed. When the author returned home, he allegedly got into the bed while his son was still in it and reached over him to put Caroline’s hand on Gaiman’s crotch.
“He didn’t have boundaries,” Caroline recalled. “I remember thinking that there was something really wrong with him.”
Caroline claimed that, in December 2021, Gaiman’s business manager offered her $5,000 if she signed an NDA and left Gaiman’s Woodstock property. Pavlovich also signed an NDA and was paid $9,200.
Multiple other women spoke with Vulture, including Katherine Kendall and Kendra Stout who recounted their encounters from the years 2012 and 2007 respectively.
Gaiman has denied all allegations since 2023 but also stepped back from production of the third season of Prime Video’s Good Omens adaptation.
