LAHORE: Ambreen Fatima, wife of journalist Ahmed Noorani – who recently leaked alleged audio of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar – was reportedly attacked by unidentified assailants in Ghaziabad area of Lahore, according to several media reports.
Ambreen Fatima is also a senior journalist in Lahore and associated with widely circulated Daily Nawa-i-Waqt. According to her LinkedIn profile, Fatima is in-charge of Centre Fold of Sunday Magazine, Woman Page, and Education Editions.
According to details, Ambreen Fatima was travelling with her children when unidentified assailants struck her vehicle with an iron rod and shattered the car’s screen.
Several media outlets have reported that the attackers began following the journalist’s car when she left home. She then sped up the car after which the attackers threatened her with dire consequences and left.
Meanwhile, the Ghaziabad police station has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against ‘unidentified persons’. “I have no enmity with anyone”, Ambreen Fatima said in a statement.
Ahmad Noorani had recently brought to light an alleged audio clip of former chief justice Saqib Nisar purportedly telling an unknown man that ‘they’ have decided to bring Imran Khan into power and Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have to be jailed.
However, Samaa TV had reported that the contents of the leaked audio clip were actually from a speech of the former chief justice, and it was therefore fabricated. While demands have been made to carry out a forensic examination of the audio leak, the controversy remains unresolved so far.
