ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Committee on Privatization has recommended privatization of 24 institutions in the country, including PIACL and First Woman Bank.
Private TV (One News) in its report says that among the 24 institutions recommended for privatization by the cabinet committee are the House Building Finance Corporation (HBFC), Agricultural Development Bank, and Utility Stores Corporation.
Economic experts say that the government is looking to retire from all its duties by privatizing the institutions that provide relief to the people. Among the companies recommended for privatization are Pepco, Junco One, Two, Three, and Four.
Among the institutions recommended by the cabinet committee are electricity distribution companies LESCO, PESCO, ISCO, MAPCO, JEPCO, HESCO, and CEPCO. Apart from this, State Life Insurance and Sindh Engineering Limited were also included in the list.
It should be noted that after completing one loan program with the IMF, Pakistan is trying to get another program for which the process of privatization of institutions in the name of economic reforms started as a result of the recommendations of the IMF.
