While the official release date for Squid Game Season 3 has not yet been confirmed, fans can expect the highly anticipated new season to premiere in 2025. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk recently revealed that filming for Season 3 had already been completed, as it was shot back-to-back with Season 2, which debuted on December 26, 2024.
Though no exact release date has been provided, speculation suggests that Squid Game Season 3 could arrive as early as the summer or fall of 2025. Hwang has expressed his intent to minimize the wait for viewers, hinting that the post-production work is well underway. Given the show’s previous release patterns, many believe the final season might premiere around the Christmas period of 2025, continuing the trend set by earlier seasons.
Squid Game, the global phenomenon that premiered in 2021, captivated audiences with its deadly competition offering a life-changing 45.6 billion won cash prize. Season 1 introduced the world to Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), a desperate father who becomes entangled in a deadly game orchestrated by the mysterious Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). Season 2 picks up three years later, with Gi-hun continuing his mission to bring an end to the brutal competition once and for all.
In a heartfelt letter to fans, Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed that Season 3 would be the series’ final chapter. “I am beyond excited to announce the final season of Squid Game,” he wrote. “The fierce clash between Gi-hun and Front Man’s two worlds will continue in the grand finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year.”
As viewers eagerly digest the twists and turns of Squid Game Season 2, they are sure to look forward to even more suspenseful action and drama when the saga concludes in Season 3.
