The AI-powered search bar feature made its debut in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.7.14 update. This functionality enables users to utilize the search engine for inquiries and interactions.
Primarily under trial in select regions like India, Pakistan and Africa, the feature is poised for global expansion in the near future.
Currently, the company is exploring the integration of Meta AI into the Instagram search bar. This allows users to engage in conversations with the AI or search for content directly.
Users have the flexibility to pose inquiries or engage in dialogues directly within the search bar.
Beyond traditional search capabilities, the AI-powered search bar also facilitates content discovery. For instance, a search for “pretty blue skies” on Instagram would yield reels and images related to the topic, as reported by Tech Crunch.
Despite the incorporation of ChatGPT-like chatbot technology into WhatsApp, Meta assures users of the confidentiality of interactions within the search bar. Queries will not be shared, ensuring data privacy.
Furthermore, WhatsApp reaffirms its commitment to end-to-end encryption, safeguarding the privacy of personal messages and calls.
