19-year-old Tunisian girl Sanda Ayari became friends with Muhammad Amir, a resident of Khada Market, Lyari, through social media. The two fell in love and decided to get married. Sanda obtained a Pakistani visa and arrived in Karachi on November 28, 2024.
Initially, the couple appeared happy after their marriage. However, a few months later, disputes began to arise over trivial matters, eventually leading Amir to divorce her.
Sanda’s 90-day visa expired on February 18, and she has since expressed concern about returning to her country. She is currently under police protection, while the Ministry of Interior has offered to issue her an immediate exit permit.
When contacted, Amir’s family claimed they had repeatedly advised Sanda not to come to Pakistan, warning her that they would not be able to bear her expenses. However, according to them, she insisted on coming and promised to manage in all circumstances.
The family alleged that after the marriage, Sanda began behaving unusually. They claimed she frequently argued with Amir, disturbed the household peace, and ultimately pushed the relationship toward separation. They further stated that Sanda would often stand outside without a dupatta or slippers and behave in ways they found difficult to handle, adding that they could no longer compromise with her.
According to the police, Sanda has not filed any formal complaint of violence or abuse against her ex-husband. The police are providing her with protection and are also making arrangements for her return to Tunisia.
