Bobby Deol’s role in the recently released film ‘Animal’ has become a sensation on the internet. In a scene featuring the character Abrar Haque, portrayed by Deol, the background resonates with the captivating song “Jamal Kudu.”
The song, with its mesmerizing chorus and music, has gained popularity shortly after its release. Within just two days, it has amassed over 16 million views on YouTube.
The song’s success compelled the producers to release its full version a few days after the movie’s premiere. Originally made available on YouTube by T-Series, the production company behind ‘Animal,’ the film hit theaters on December 1, and the song was released online on December 6.

“Jamal Kudu” draws inspiration from the well-known Iranian song “Jamaal Jamaaloo” and underwent a rework by music composer Harshvardhan Rameshwar for the movie ‘Animal.’ The lyrics trace their origins to southern Iran and were originally performed in the 1950s by the Kharazemi Girls High School’s Shirazi Choir, gaining popularity as a wedding song. It is believed to be a translation of a poem by Iranian poet Bijan Smandar.
The song’s hook line, ‘Jamal Jamalek Jamaloo Jamal Kudu,’ translates to ‘Oh my love, my beloved, my sweet love!’ The lyrics convey sentiments of love and longing with phrases like ‘Oh, my cutie, don’t play with my heart’ and ‘You are leaving and embarking on a journey, and I’m getting crazy like Majnu.’
It should be noted that ‘Animal’ explores the tumultuous relationship between a father and a son, receiving mixed reviews. While some praise Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial work, others critique the level of violence depicted. The movie also features Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri, Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in prominent roles.
