Former NFL Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy believes Taylor Swift, who is appearing a lot at NFL games nowadays, is having a negative impact on the sport. But did he actually say that?
Let’s find out what he actually said about the singer and the comments he made during a recent interview.
What did he actually say?
In an interview with Fox News (via USA Today), Tony Dungy said that Taylor Swift is “disenchanting people with sports now.” Dungy explained why he thought that so few of the Gen Z generation describe themselves as “avid sports fans.”
When Dungy was asked specifically about Taylor Swift’s impact on the NFL, Dungy said that her involvement was “disenchanting people with sports now.” He went on to say:
“There’s so much on the outside coming in. Entertainment value and different things that take away from what really happens on the field.” On the other hand, Taylor Swift has yet to respond to Tony Dungy’s comments, and it’s possible that she never will.
Swift and Chiefs games
Taylor Swift continues to appear at Chiefs games in support of the team and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. As a world-famous singer, the spotlight is unsurprisingly trained on her every move. Moreover, the singer is expected to appear at more NFL games to support her boyfriend.
